Join us in New Bedford on Sunday, September 20th for the Annual Superhero Walk & 5K Race (and introducing a Kids Fun Run) to benefit Meeting Street! The race starts and finishes at Fort Taber and runs along the picturesque coastline. The timed road race starts at 9:15 AM and is open to runners and walkers of all speeds. After the event, join us for family friendly festivities.
Registration and Bib Pick-Up
2020 event registration will open on July 22nd. Registered 5K participants will receive a t-shirt, race bib with timing chip, and a superhero cape at bib pick-up the morning of the race. All walkers and other attendees will also receive a superhero cape.

What is the Walk and Race route?
Race and Walk participants start and finish in the same location, in front of the Community Center. Walk participants stay within the Fort perimeter, while runners follow the certified 5K course through the local community.
What time does the Walk and Race start?
7:30 AM – Check-in opens (Check-in booth will be located in front of the Fort Taber Community Center);
9:15 AM – Race begins! (Runners will lead the start, followed by kids and then walk participants).
Is the Race Course certified and how is the race timed?
Yes, the race course is USATF certified and runners are timed using microchipped race bibs.
Is food provided?
Yes, light refreshments will be available starting at 8:30 AM. A water station will be setup along the 5K course route. Post race, there will be a food and beer truck. Runners will receive a voucher for a meal and beer (included in registation fee). Meals/drinks for non runners can be purchased at the event.
Will you be providing awards?
Yes, awards will be presented at 10:30 AM to: Overall Winner; Top Female; Top Male; Top Teen, Top Fundraiser, Most Creative Costume, and Team with the Most Participants.
Who does this event support?
All proceeds benefit Meeting Street | The Schwartz School. Meeting Street compassionately and innovatively empowers children and their families to thrive by fostering the development of the whole child. Meeting Street’s vision is to be a national leader in child development, education, research and training. Today, Meeting Street works with over 7,000 children and families in Rhode Island and the South Coast of Massachusetts annually as a provider of educational and developmental services to children and young adults with and without special needs.
